}else {>Description
The purpose of the study was to determine (based on an exhaustive review of the literature and information provided by the National Hydrocarbons Agency - ANH and WesternGeco) the existence of environmental conditions conducive to the possible presence of deep-sea coral communities within the polygons. specified by the ANH in the Colombian Caribbean and Pacific.
The study area was limited to three polygons, two in the Colombia Basin (Colombian Caribbean) called polygon 1 and polygon 2 (Figure 2), with 34,234.88 km2 and 214,710.29 km2, respectively, and another in the Pacific Basin called polygon 4 (Figure 3) with 110,998.8 km2. Additionally, for the purposes of calculations and continuity of the ecosystem, the study area extended 100 km around each polygon.
